CAMPING IN ANDERSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE

Norris Dam State Park sits on more than 4,000 acres surrounded by Norris Lake, the Clinch River and miles of trails, so it’s the perfect campground if you’re planning a lake vacation or enjoy hiking and biking. The park has two campgrounds and offers RV and primitive campsites. All sites have a table, grill and fire pit. In addition to the campgrounds, cabins are available to rent. Campers can also enjoy a variety of interpretive programs and events.
Anderson County Park is located along the shoreline of Norris Lake and offers 24 short term sites, 38 long term sites and group camp options. There are pavilions, playground equipment, nature trails, a swimming area, a boat ramp and more. The park recently moved to a reservation system, so be sure to reserve your spot today!
Windrock Park, the largest privately owned off-road park in the country has some of the best camping accommodations around. They have cabins (rustic and deluxe), RV sites, primitive sites and yurts! Yes, you read that right, yurts. Camping at Windrock allows you direct access to over 350 miles of off-road trails. Side by side rentals are available. Needless to say, you will have quite the adventure on this camping trip!
Located around Windrock Park are three other campgrounds that are all convenient to the trails. Windrock Gap Campground, Halfmoon Campground and Indian Creek RV Resort offer RV sites, primitive camping and cabins. Campers can go straight to the trails without trailering their atv’s. Whether you go to ride, hike or just enjoy the beautiful outdoors Oliver Springs makes a great camping destination.
If you prefer to be closer to amenities, Knoxville Campground is for you. The convenience of I-75 is just beyond your campsite, but you’d hardly know it at this peaceful campground. They offer large and level pull through RV sites, cabins, and premium and primitive tent sites. Campers can take advantage of the swimming pool, exercise room, playground, volleyball, horseshoes, corn hole and more! Knoxville Campground is the perfect place if you want to enjoy a visit to the Museum of Appalachia or Historic Downtown Clinton for a day of antiquing.
Other Campgrounds in the area
Loyston Point Campground located in Andersonville is the perfect campground when you’re planning a Norris Lake vacation. Most campsites have a lake view, with many sites on the waterfront. There is a great swimming area, boat rentals and more.
Big Ridge State Park is home to a variety of activities for the whole family. There are more than 15 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to very rugged. The park has 50 campsites on or near Norris Lake to accommodate RV’s, trailers and tent campers. Each site offers amenities such as water, 50-amp electrical hookups and a picnic table with a grill. There is a group camp that accommodates up to 120 people with 18 screened-in bunkhouses. There are three backcountry campsites that are hike-in only.
