Hit the Trails! Anderson County is home to some of the best hiking and mountain biking in the southeast. Whether you want to go for a leisurely hike or downhill mountain bike we’ve got the right kind of trail for you. Anderson County offers more than 400 miles of trails that run along river banks, climb into majestic mountains, and provide scenic spots for you to rest.

Norris Dam State Park and the adjacent Norris Watershed is one popular area for hiking and biking. This spot is situated on both sides of Norris Dam and offers breathtaking views of Norris Lake. With over 50 miles of trails ranging in all levels of difficulty, it’s easy to find the perfect trails to explore.

Haw Ridge Park is also a favorite area for outdoor enthusiasts. The park is situated on a scenic peninsula along the Clinch River and offers more than 30 miles of single-track and dirt trails to explore by biking, hiking or trail running. You will definitely want to check out the Dirt Lab located at the park. It’s a mountain bike skills park and pump track that will entertain the adults and kids. Geocachers will also discover plenty of bounty scattered throughout Haw Ridge.

Windrock Park is another great spring break destination in Anderson County. Windrock is the largest privately owned off-road park in the country and has over 350 miles of trails to explore. You can bring your own off-road machine or rent a side by side at Windrock. Everyone from beginners to experts can have fun at Windrock Park. They also offer a great campground and a variety of cabins too accommodate groups of all sizes. Windrock even has yurts that you can stay in!

The Green McAdoo Cultural Center tells the compelling story of twelve high school students, who in 1956, braved threats of violence to attend Clinton High School, making it the first desegregated public high school in the south.
