FALL PADDLING ON THE ULTIMATE WATERWAY

FALL PADDLING ON THE ULTIMATE WATERWAY

Fall may be arriving soon, but that doesn't mean we can’t still enjoy the water!  While many might associate this season with cozy sweaters and pumpkin lattes, it's also the perfect time to indulge in outdoor adventures before winter's chill sets in. And guess what? The waterways of Anderson County are still very much alive and inviting for all your paddling desires. So, grab your paddles and gear up for unforgettable experiences on the Ultimate Waterway, featuring stunning Norris Lake, the meandering Clinch River, and the serene Melton Hill Lake.

Norris Lake - Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Anderson County, Norris Lake stands as a testament to nature's splendor. As the fall season unfurls, the lakes shorelines adopt warm hues and offer a serene escape. Imagine kayaking through crystal-clear waters, the sunlight filtering through the foliage and nothing but the quiet sounds of fall surrounding you. Whether you're an experienced kayaker or a novice seeking new thrills, Norris Lake's calm waters cater to all skill levels. Don't forget to bring your camera along to capture the beautiful fall colors on Norris Lake.

The Clinch River - For those who appreciate a slower pace, the Clinch River is a paddler's paradise. As you navigate its tranquil waters, you'll be treated to a front-row seat to the changing seasons. Canoeing or kayaking down the Clinch River allows you to immerse yourself in the heart of nature, where the only sounds are the gentle lapping of water against your vessel and the occasional call of a distant bird. This is an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle of daily life and reconnect with the soothing rhythm of the outdoors. Before you paddle the Clinch River, we recommend mapping out your trip. You can find a map with access points here. The most important thing to remember when paddling the Clinch is to check the TVA water release schedule online or download their app.

Melton Hill Lake - As the weather cools, the lake remains inviting, with its placid waters reflecting the serene beauty of autumn. Paddling on Melton Hill Lake is a perfect way to engage in a full-body workout while taking in the stunning surroundings. The peaceful ambiance of Melton Hill is only enhanced by the sight of leaves gently falling from trees and creating a vibrant carpet on the water's surface. Whether you're seeking solitude or enjoying the company of fellow adventurers, paddling on Melton Hill Lake promises an unforgettable experience.

Rentals available at Adventures Outdoors - Rentals are available at two different locations making it possible to paddle at different waterways in Anderson County. Norris Paddling Adventures, located at Norris Dam Marina offers rentals to be used on Norris Lake and the Clinch River. Adventures Outdoors is located on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge. Both rental locations offer kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, hydro-bikes and paddleboats. If you are new to paddlesports, don’t worry. Fall's arrival doesn't signal the end of water-based adventures in Anderson County; in fact, it marks the beginning of a new and equally enchanting chapter. Norris Lake, the Clinch River, and Melton Hill Lake each offer a unique opportunity to engage with nature, witness its transformation, and find solace in its beauty.
