SUMMARY:Meet the Artist Show and Reception
DESCRIPTION:Appalachian Arts will host their final Meet the Artist gallery show this year\, featuring the work of Donna Gryder\,  from September 1 through September 21.  There will be a special artist reception on Saturday\, September 13 from 10:00 AM–11:30 AM\, where guests can meet Donna\, view her work\, ask questions\, and enjoy light refreshments. \nEast Tennessee artist Donna Gryder has spent more than 20 years exploring the beauty of glass\, with the past 12 focused on kiln-formed techniques that bring vibrant color and shimmer to life. Her upcoming exhibit showcases a wide range of hand-cut and kiln-fired glass works all crafted in her home studio. \nThe Meet the Artist program celebrates the diverse talent of Tennessee artists\, offering the public an opportunity to connect more deeply with the creative process behind the work. \nFeatured work is available for purchase through the Appalachian Arts retail market\, with a portion of proceeds supporting both the artist and the nonprofit’s mission to promote creativity. \nThese events are part of Appalachian Arts’ year-round programming that connects the public with working artists in the region. Admission is free and open to all. For more information\, visit www.appalachianarts.net.

SUMMARY:Live Pottery Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Join Appalachian Arts on September 15th for a special Meet the Artist reception featuring ceramic artist Pat Clapsaddle. Visitors are invited to explore her vibrant pottery collection\, ask questions about her techniques\, and watch live demonstrations of her hand-painted surface design throughout the day. \nPat Clapsaddle creates distinctive ceramic works using terra cotta clay\, which she throws and assembles by hand. Her surfaces feature colorful majolica glazes on black and red grounds\, enhanced by expressive sgraffito contour lines. Many of her pieces are also textured through clay imprinting techniques. All works are low-fired\, food safe\, and fully functional—designed to be both beautiful and useful. \nWith over 32 years of experience teaching art in Massachusetts and Ohio\, Pat Clapsaddle was honored as the Outstanding Art Teacher for the Northeast Region by the Ohio Art Education Association. Her ceramics have been showcased in numerous local galleries\, exhibitions\, and craft shows. Learn more about Pat Clapsaddle. \nThe exhibit will remain on display in our gallery through September 24. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Stop by to connect with the artist\, see her creative process in action\, and experience the richness of contemporary pottery. Light Refreshments will be provided.
