Join us on Thursday evenings throughout the summer and fall for grand historical presentations honoring America’s 250th birthday!

Everyone loves to learn about our history, and what better year than when our country is celebrating 250 years of freedom? At the Lenoir Museum this summer and fall, join us on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM for guest speakers presenting a variety of historical topics.

Below are the current scheduled speakers and dates:

August 13th- The Coal Creek Wars- The Impact of a Rebellion: Historian Barry Thacker

September 10th – Appalachian Folk Crafts: Broom Making with Michele Disney

September 17th – A History of Andrew Jackson with Professor Emeratius, Dr. Daniel Feller

September 24th- Appalachian Legends & Ghost Stories: Terry Shaw of Howling Hills Publishing

We will be adding more speakers as the dates get closer, so check back here for the updated list.

Each presentation begins at 6:30 PM at the Lenoir Museum and will be indoors. Light refreshments will be available.

Registration is not required, but it lets us have a headcount and is appreciated! Upon registering, you can add a donation to the park. 100% of your donations stay at Norris Dam State Park and support programs like this one and other park projects. Please consider donating to YOUR state park!
