DESCRIPTION:The Secret City Head Race brings the excitement of fall racing to Oak Ridge\, welcoming athletes\, coaches\, and spectators to two days of head race competition on Melton Lake\, featuring our traditional Clinch River/Melton Lake Reservoir downstream course on Saturday and our throwback upstream course on Sunday. The Saturday Event List is structured to allow up to two races (maximum) per athlete and includes a 3200-meter U15 Event series in 8+ and 4+ for our younger athletes. Sunday is a shorter race day\, finishing in the early afternoon. The Sunday event list follows a structure that gives everyone an opportunity to challenge the upstream course. \nSpectators are welcome.

Join the Norris Dam State Park Rangers at Norris Dam Marina as they venture along the shores of Norris Lake via pontoon boat.\n\nEach boat ride lasts approximately one hour and departs from the Norris Dam Marina. Park Rangers will narrate your trip with tree identification and park history. Limited to only 10 people. This trip is $18.00 per adult (7 years and over) and $12.00 per child (6 years and under).\n\n\n\n\nChildren under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you plan on bringing children\, please bring a life jacket for them\, as children 12 and under are required to wear life jackets while on the open deck of a recreational boat\, except when anchored\, moored\, or aground. The cabins will be adorned with old-fashioned Christmas decorations and festively lit for the occasion. Throughout the evening\, guests can enjoy live music\, traditional dancing\, and Christmas storytelling\, along with a wide range of demonstrations and activities\, including blacksmithing\, apple butter making\,  popcorn stringing\, holiday arts & crafts for kids\, and farm and wildlife education featuring live animal meet & greets. Families can sip sassafras tea\, visit with Santa Claus\, and browse the Holiday Market\, featuring handmade gifts\, baked goods\, and the works and wares of local artisans—perfect for last-minute shopping. \nThe Museum Restaurant will be open throughout the event\, serving hearty soups\, hot meals\, and other cozy seasonal favorites\, while the Gift Shop will offer an array of regional crafts\, books\, and holiday merchandise. \nCandlelight Christmas runs each evening from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets and more information are available now at museumofappalachia.org.
