Communities in Anderson County

The communities in Anderson County are very diverse ranging from over 30,000 in population to a little over 1,300.  They are also diverse in the amenities that they offer.  Some of our communities contain restaurants, shopping and subdivisions while others are more rural offering sprawling landscapes and farmland.  

Andersonville

Andersonville is a small farming community east of Clinton and I-75. Located near Norris Lake and several marinas, Andersonville offers the opportunity to enjoy rural living at its best! Housing includes small subdivisions as well as lakefront condos and farmland. If you’ve always wanted to have a garden and enjoy a quiet, pastoral setting, Andersonville is for you!

Claxton

Located just a few miles south of Clinton, Claxton offers several different subdivisions and rural living in a convenient location. It is a quick trip into Clinton, Oak Ridge or Knoxville for all the conveniences of shopping and healthcare. Claxton is also located close the river and lake for easy access for the fisherman!

Clinton

As the county seat of Anderson County, Clinton is for the person who enjoys small town living with several established subdivisions and easy access to everyday needs. In 2011, Clinton was voted as “One of the Best Places to Raise Kids” by Business Week. Enjoy a quiet day strolling through downtown and the numerous antique shops. Or stop for a burger and shake at the old fashioned Hoskins Drug Store and catch up on the latest with your neighbors! Recent expansions of various manufacturers based in Clinton have created many job opportunities here too. Clinton is located on the river so you can enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. or just walking along the river. Clinton is also located along I-75 with easy access to Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Medford

Norris

Norris is a National Historic City and would be ideal for the person who enjoys quiet, woodland neighborhoods, a small grocery with a butcher, outdoor concerts in the summer, and lots of land at the Norris Dam State Park to enjoy hiking, fly fishing, boating and other outdoor activities. There are lots of opportunities to be involved in the community from the Smithsonian Affiliate Museum of Appalachia to the Arts Craft Center as well as religious and community organizations. From historic homes to new housing developments to condo and apartment living, Norris is a great place to call home!

Residents of Anderson County have many options of quality healthcare to choose from whether in Oak Ridge or in nearby Knoxville.

Oak Ridge

Oak Ridge has many diverse housing options, from condos to apartments to subdivisions, with easy access to everyday conveniences such as shopping, medical, tennis and golf and even rowing and kayaking! Take advantage of their many greenways and parks to enjoy the great outdoors. There are many opportunities to be involved in the community as well as the arts with a Playhouse and an orchestra with evening concerts in the summer. Oak Ridge has different festivals throughout the year including the Secret City Festival, the Lavender Festival, and Farmer’s Markets too.

Oliver Springs

Oliver Springs is a quaint town just outside of Oak Ridge near the Cumberland Mountains. If you enjoy riding off road vehicles, this is the place to be! Windrock Park is located at Oliver Springs with over 72,000 acres in the mountains to explore by Jeep, dirt bike, or side by side. The October Sky Festival is held each fall with rockets, car shows, and arts and crafts. Housing includes subdivisions, mountain cabins and rural living.

Rocky Top

Rocky Top is formerly known as Lake City and is located along I-75 between Norris Lake and the Cumberland Mountains. From subdivisions to mountain cabins to rural living, Rocky Top has it all. Enjoy small town living and conveniences while living near the larger cities and communities. You’ll find opportunities to be involved in the community from the Coal Creek Museum to the Annual Rocky Top Bluegrass Festival. Rocky Top is also a great place to enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains on the Devil’s Triangle!
